This article was published through The Forum newspaper and website. When given this beat, I was initially uninterested because I didn’t follow Administration or Student Government at Westminster College. During a story meeting the editor reminded me of an email sent out to students about upcoming graduation changes. Since I was being impacted by the changes, I immediately became interested.

After our meeting I read the emails sent out about the changes and became furious. I learned transfer students with less than 60 hours would not be recognized for honors at the ceremony and no one would receive a diploma at graduation. My biggest challenge with this article was not letting my frustration show through. By not including my bias, I was able to create a stronger story based on facts and quotes from students.
